My artistic career started 22 years ago as a Trainee Graphic Artist for an advertising company here on the Coast where I developed concepts for Brothers Neilson and other major companies.
After attending a number of Art Classes with the late Brin Jones I decided fine art was ‘my thing’. Brin encouraged me to teach and so my dream began. My experience has been vast and varied with contracts at Local Primary Schools, Adult classes at TAFE, and many classes held at my home studio.
Over the years I have painted Bridal gowns for one of Queenslands leading designers, turned my hand to animation, started the “Brattitude” line of childrens art, designed book covers and written and Illustrated Childrens books (my own hobby). I currently design and paint for a local home ware company which is distributed all over the world. Just recently I was filmed for the TV Show “Colour in Your Life” with Graeme Stevenson’ I love what I do and am blessed to be living the dream.
How long have you been creating?
Art has been my whole life, am forever evolving, so creating a range of products is the next necessary step for me. This range started about 8 months ago.
How did you get started?
Working for a popular home ware company gave me a great insight as to how the manufacturing process goes. Also working alongside amazing artists doing the same thing.
What is your greatest inspiration?
A great artist friend of mine, Tracey Keller. She is amazingly talented and her energy is magnetic. Everything she touches turns to gold.
What is the greatest challenge to owning and operating your own business?
To keep the momentum going, being the creator, the marketing dept, the gofer & secretary. Some days are certainly better than others.
What is the best experience owning your own creative business?
Knowing that you’re in total control and are responsible for all of the above. You learn so much from the good and bad experiences.
