Rebecca Bird graduated in 2006 from Adelaide Centre for the Arts with a bachelor degree in Visual Arts. Although majoring in Painting she entered into the world of Jewellery making and found a passion for silversmithing.
Since leaving her studies Rebecca has spent her time creating her label Tweet Designs and has incorporated her love of classic art into her jewellery. Influenced by Art Nouveau, Art Deco and Celtic Designs, Rebecca uses reclaimed and recycled materials to create unique, classic and wearable jewellery to suit any age.
How long have you been making jewellery?
I started making jewellery while studying my degree in 2003 and started my label in 2009.
How did you get started?
After graduating and becoming a mother I began my jewellery business as a continuation of my studies and a way to support my family.
What is your greatest inspiration?
I love anything pretty and have always loved patterns, especially those based on Art Nouveau.
What is the greatest challenge to owning and operating your own business?
Time, you need to be very proactive with yourself, and persistent.
What is the best thing about owning your own creative business?
I love what I do! Being creative has always been a part of who I am and this gives me a way of expressing that part of me.
